Hair shedding and fragile nails can sometimes involve nutritional factors, but they have many other causes too. This service connects a proper hair and nail assessment with a targeted discussion of zinc, B12, folate and, where relevant, biotin.
A change in your hair or nails is worth looking at closely before choosing supplements. Increased shedding, gradual thinning, snapping hair shafts and splitting nails are different problems. The dermatologist asks about when the change began, recent illness or weight change, diet, styling practices and any other symptoms. Hair & Nail Nutrient Therapy considers zinc, methylcobalamin B12 and methylfolate B9 where a nutritional reason exists. Biotin may be considered in selected circumstances. The purpose of that discussion is to identify a gap that needs correcting, not to assume that every person with hair loss needs the same vitamins. SkinGenious already has a Hair loss concern page and specific hair treatments. This service adds the nutritional part of the assessment. It does not replace diagnosis of pattern hair loss, scalp inflammation, fungal nail disease or other conditions that need their own treatment. Hair and nails grow gradually, so the review plan should match the problem being treated. Your clinician may recommend photographs, relevant tests or follow-up of the nail changes. It is also helpful to bring the hair, nail and “beauty” supplements you already take so overlapping ingredients can be identified.

How it works
Correcting an identified deficiency may form part of a hair or nail treatment plan, but routine IV therapy is not established to stimulate hair growth or strengthen nails in everyone. Changes are assessed over an appropriate growth period rather than immediately after an infusion. Your dermatologist can explain whether the main treatment should focus on the scalp, the nail itself or a nutritional issue.
Hair follicles and nails depend on normal nutrition, but a biological requirement for a nutrient does not mean extra IV doses improve growth. Treatment is aimed at a demonstrated nutritional need when present, while the underlying dermatological diagnosis determines the rest of the plan.
Suitability and assessment

What happens during treatment
Your visit begins with a discussion of your goals, symptoms, medical history and current medicines. The clinician explains the ingredients being considered and agrees the plan with you. If you go ahead, a small cannula is placed in a vein. You can sit comfortably while the infusion is administered and the team monitors you. The rate and visit length depend on the treatment selected. Before you leave, the team removes the cannula, checks how you are feeling and explains what to do at home and when to return.
Talk through your goals
Discuss your symptoms, routine, medicines and previous treatments. The clinician assesses your needs and explains whether hair & nail nutrient therapy is a suitable option.
Agree your plan and receive treatment
Review the selected ingredients and what to expect. If you decide to proceed, the team places a small cannula and administers the prescribed infusion while checking your comfort and response.
Review and plan your aftercare
The team removes the cannula, checks how you feel and gives you practical aftercare advice. Agree whether a follow-up or further investigation would be useful.
Results and limitations

Risks and recovery
A needle can cause brief discomfort, bruising or irritation around the infusion site. Less common problems include infection, an allergic reaction, fluid overload or an adverse response to an ingredient. Your medical history and medicines affect suitability. Tell the team promptly if you feel unwell during the infusion. Biotin can interfere with some laboratory tests. Tell the clinician and laboratory if it is part of your treatment or supplements.

Preparing for treatment
• Bring a list of medicines and supplements, plus any recent test results relevant to your visit. • Bring recent test results, photos of changes and the labels of hair, nail and multivitamin supplements. Tell the team if you take biotin before any blood tests. • Tell the team about allergies, previous infusion reactions, kidney or heart conditions, and pregnancy or breastfeeding. • Ask which ingredients are included in your session and whether any investigations or additional appointments are needed. • Follow the clinic’s instructions about meals and fluids. Keep taking prescribed medicines unless your clinician tells you otherwise.
Any change to prescribed medicines, including blood thinners, must be agreed with the prescribing clinician.

Alternatives to consider
Dermatological assessment, oral replacement for identified deficiencies and condition-specific hair or nail treatments may be appropriate. Your consultation can compare these with an infusion in terms of the intended benefit, convenience, cost and follow-up.
Planning treatment and maintenance
Agree a specific goal before starting: the symptom, nutritional issue or concern you want to address. Your clinician can explain what would count as a useful response and when to review it. Further sessions are considered in light of that response and your ongoing needs. The plan should also cover nutrition, skincare or other everyday measures relevant to your concern.
What affects the cost
The listed price is ₹6,000 per session. Ask the clinic what is included in your individual plan and whether tests or additional services are charged separately. The number of visits is discussed during consultation.
